Victor Joseph Wishna - comedian, writer, journalist
Widely known as the third funniest Amateur Jewish Comedian in New York (a distinction affirmed by The Jewish Week), and described as "not bad" by his mother, Victor Wishna has performed at major comedy clubs around Manhattan. He has also appeared on Staten Island public-access television (twice) and once held the rapt attention of more than 200 Jewish twenty-somethings while performing at an Upper West Side JCC singles event.
Victor's column of commentary and humor, "Letter from New York" is syndicated nationally in more than a dozen newspapers and on several websites. In his free time (Monday through Friday, nine to five), Victor is the managing editor at Quest magazine. He also leads Jewish heritage walking tours in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Victor conducted the interviews for In Their Company: Portraits of American Playwrights, a compendium of the foremost writers of the American stage, which won the 2007 Independent Publisher Book Awards Silver Medal.
A native of Overland Park, Kansas, Victor graduated from Stanford University, where he studied journalism and psychology, and not engineering or medicine. In 2006, he received his MFA in nonfiction writing from New School University. He lives in Hell's Kitchen above his favorite sushi restaurant.
